Chasity and Berta met ten years ago through mutual friends at a party in New Orleans. Says Chasity, “I was instantly captured by her beauty.” The brides say that when they first spoke they felt very comfortable with each other. From there the relationship began. Says Chasity, “After a few months of dating we took our first trip together to spend New Year’s Eve in Miami. I knew on this trip that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.”
In 2015 Berta and Chasity took another trip to Miami. This time Chasity knew she wanted to propose, which she did on the beach during sunset. “I brought a suitcase full of candles, pictures, rose petals and champagne.” Berta’s friends and family brought her to the spot where Chasity was waiting on bended knee. Says Berta, “I was shocked and overcome with emotion.” The couple went out to celebrate with loved ones and when the vacation ended they got straight to planning.
Both brides walked down the aisle. Chasity went first, escorted by her mother. Berta and her father followed.
Wedding Song: Ellie Goulding “Love me like you do.”
Say the brides, “When we first heard it we both fell in love with the words of the song and felt it summed up our relationship.” Berta and Chasity also had a first dance after their bridal party was announced. Says Chasity, “My 7-year-old niece Kadence decided to join us for our first dance. She is a diva who loves the spotlight.”
Chasity’s Favorite Moment: “Marrying my soulmate and seeing my nieces and nephews walk down the aisle. They had a blast. I also loved spending time with our family and friends from all over the country.”
Berta’s Favorite Moment: “When we were announced as newlyweds. I also enjoyed dancing at the reception. I’m Cuban so dancing is in my blood. There was a song that came on and everyone at the reception did a conga line, and it was awesome seeing over 100 people in a conga line going around the venue.”
The brides say they wanted their wedding to be all girls. “Our bridal party, the officiant, and a majority of the vendors were all female with the exception of our two nephews that served as the ring bearers. We wanted to showcase girl power!”
There’s nothing Berta and Chasity would change about their wedding, except maybe to slow down time. “It all went by so fast.”
