Courtney and Marisa, both ER nurses, live together in Cypress, Texas with their two dogs. Their favorite activities include traveling, doing puzzles, snorkeling, fishing, cooking, and they’re currently renovating their house by themselves. The couple met at work when Marisa was Courtney’s boss. Marisa claims that Courtney batted her eyelashes and said “hi” very coyly when they met. “My story is a little different,” says Courtney. “We were chatting in the parking lot and that smile of hers made me melt!”
They were together about 7 months when they started talking about marriage and what kind of rings Courtney liked. She thought Marisa would pop the question during the holidays. “I was waiting and waiting getting my nails done every week!” On New Year’s Even they were celebrating with friends when, during the midnight fireworks, Marisa arranged sparkler fireworks in the ground, got on one knee and proposed.
The brides love the beach, so they planned a tropical wedding that featured bright colors. They were both escorted by their fathers, meeting at the end of the dock and walking the rest of the way together to the sound of steel drums. “Our two dogs were our flower girls, and were walked down the aisle by our mothers.” The brides say that they tried to include their family as much as they could. “We spent a whole week down in the keys with everyone so our families could meet and hang out and relax without too much stress.”
Wedding Song: “Loving You is Easy” by Zac Brown Band.
Says Courtney, “Marisa wanted something upbeat and I wanted something romantic so that is how we found our song.” The brides had a first dance and Courtney admits that Marisa is not the best dancer but that she made it work. “She dipped me at the end and it’s one of my favorite pictures of the night. It’s hanging above our mantel.” Family and friends waved sparklers during their dance which the brides say made it even more fun.
Courtney’s Favorite Moment: “It’s hard to say because the entire day was amazing … starting with my ‘girls’ brunch’ that morning, then saying our vows and kissing my new wife. My favorite memory is dancing throughout the night and everyone getting so hot that they jumped in the pool!”
Marisa’s Favorite Moment: “Vowing to be wife and wife forever—even though Courtney forgot her vows, but that is why I love her—and being with our friends and family.”
The brides wish that the weather had been a bit less humid, but that there’s really nothing they would change about their day, which included a lobster release during the ceremony, because lobsters mate for life. “We really loved everything about our wedding, it was truly an amazing day that we will never forget.”
