Tracie and Tawnya met 25 years ago and have weaved in and out of each other’s lives ever since. They reconnected via Facebook in 2014 and began chatting regularly, then dating. The brides have six children between them and after Tracie proposed to Tawnya the two planned an outdoor wedding that included friends and family. Tracie’s uncle officiated and she walked down the aisle first, escorted by her father. She says, “I wanted to see Tawnya walking with her son.”
Wedding Song: “I knew I loved you” by Savage Garden.
Say the brides, “We both did a father daughter dance, an anniversary dance, a couples’ dance, and we played the shoe game with much laughter.”
Tracie’s Favorite Moment: “Feeling the support of my family while looking into Tawnya’s eyes during the ceremony.”
Tawnya’s Favorite Moment: “Not feeling any anxiety or nervousness and locking onto Tracie’s eyes.”
The food was cooked and prepared by family members, as was the 3-layer cake. If they had to change anything the brides say they would have had a venue that was less DIY. “We had to do all the breakdown ourselves, which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our families.” Still, Tracie and Tawnya say that their wedding was fun, easy and relaxed. “We had a blast and are living our lives continuing to have a blast!”
