Tristia is a hockey playing security technician and Megan is a figure skating special education teacher. They met through a mutual friend in 2012 and dated for two years before Tristia proposed over the 4th of July while on vacation in Mackinaw Island in Michigan.
The brides opted for a rustic and laidback DIY wedding. “Our dresses were consignment, hair and make-up was done by friends, as well as the music.” Megan ordered their flowers online and Tristia’s mom put the arrangements together, and an uncle officiated the ceremony. Their ceremony was in the woods so guests were brought in on wagons pulled by tractors.
Both brides were escorted down the aisle by their dads. “We discussed different options but both wanted to walk with our dads and enjoy the moment.”
Wedding Song: “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran.
Say the brides, “We just both liked it.”
Tristia’s Favorite Moment: “Reading our vows to one another.”
Megan’s Favorite Moment: “Seeing how much our families support and love us. Waiting at the back of the crowd after we came in on the tractor ride with our dads was pretty special.”
Instead of cake Tristia and Megan asked family and friends to make their favorite desserts. “This was such a fun way to get them involved and have some delicious desserts made with great family recipes.” The brides had outdoor games like hammerschlagen and a bonfire in addition to dancing during the night.
