Hayley & Dillon's Surprise Proposal

Hayley and Dillon met in September 2014, online originally, followed by their first date. Says Hayley, “When I first saw Dillon I was intimidated by her beauty and I became very shy.” The two say they fell in love pretty fast. Within six months they had a house together. Says Dillon, “Everything seemed to go really fast but at the same time fell into place. We have gone through so much together and are truly best friends.”

Proposal Date: April 11th 2016

As told by Hayley: “I saw a post on Facebook requesting two women for a same-sex elopement photo shoot. I thought it sounded fun so I forwarded it to Dillon to see if she was interested. We’ve both done some modeling so it sounded pretty normal for us. I spoke with the brilliant photographer Lianna and as we talked over details I started thinking that this shoot would be the perfect time to propose. I’ve always imagined myself doing something out of the ordinary and romantic for a proposal. I asked Lianna if it would be okay with it and she was all for it.

Lianna went all-out and had lots of different vendors involved for this shoot. The week before the shoot I was nervous; I couldn’t eat, sleep and I was texting our families like crazy to get approvals and support. I definitely didn’t know it would be this nerve-racking.

Finally the big day came. We started by getting our hair and makeup done then met everyone at my mom’s house where we did the shoot. She lives in Rainbow, California on gorgeous property. “A dream come true for a photographer,” said Lianna. Everything looked so perfect. My dress was hand made just for me and was stunning, and the bouquet and flower crown were unbelievable. After we got ready we started taking pictures and they had a cake made by another very talented artist who wrote, ‘Will you marry me?’”

They planned it out so that Dillon and I were be about to pose for a photo and Lianna stopped to ask Dillon to turn the cake around, at which point she saw what was written. But instead Dillon looked at me, and I was down on one knee asking her to marry me. She was stunned! She thought this was part of the shoot and was looking around asking everyone if it was real.

Tears filled her eyes and she said, “Yeah I’ll marry you.” It was so amazing that my fairy tale proposal came true. After that we took real engagement photos and left for a romantic getaway at a local resort.”
