Karlie and Stephanie met at Southern Oregon University, stereotypically, they say, while playing softball. “After months of awkward long stares,” says Stephanie, “Karlie finally asked me to go get coffee after practice one day. The rest is history.” They have been together for a little over five years now, and Karlie says the awkward stares were worth it.
Proposal Date: July 9th 2016
Stephanie proposed to Karlie at Muir Woods National Monument in San Francisco.
Karlie: “The proposal was a total shock to me, and I laugh about it now because I wasn’t in the best mood leading up to that moment. I had hurt my back pretty badly a few days before our trip, so after walking around the woods for a few hours I was ready to go. I told Stephanie how I was feeling, and she led me up … a huge hill.”
Stephanie: “I was nervous because there were so many tourists around, I was trying to find the right spot so it would still be romantic.”
Karlie: “I was pretty confused and irritated because I was in a lot of pain. Suddenly Stephanie got down on one knee and I said, “What are you doing? Get off the ground.” Then I realized that she was proposing.”
Stephanie: “I was so nervous and happy I don’t even remember what I said to Karlie, but it must have been good because she said yes!”
Karlie: “I was then so happy I started crying and said yes. It turned out to be a pretty okay day after all.”
The couple shot a snowy engagement session with Angelica Owens Photography at the Lake of the Woods Resort in the Southern Oregon Cascades.
