Suzy & Courtney's City Hall Celebration

Confession: We’re a little bit obsessed with Steph Grant’s stunning photography of lesbian weddings, so when we heard from Court & Suzy, there was some squealing. Their stylish photos from their special day capture the spirit of their love. Not to mention they’re unique and bad-ass.

August 18th 2014

San Francisco, CA

Courtney and Suzy started dating in December 2012, though they first met in 2008. They developed a friendship over the years that eventually turned romantic.

Courtney proposed in April 2014 by presenting Suzy with a photo book of their previous year. They had already talked about making a photo book, but when Suzy got to the last page, Courtney got down on one knee and proposed. Says Suzy: “It was super sweet & perfect.”

Courtney’s perfect proposal.

For their wedding, the brides kept it simple.

They were married at City Hall in San Francisco on a summer day. Though they did not have a traditional reception, Courtney’s Mom and sisters traveled to California with the brides, so they treated their guests and their friend/photographer, Steph, to a sunset dinner cruise around the Bay.

All the ladies out to sea.

Brides’ Favorite Memory: The big reveal! We had gotten ready separately in different rooms with hair and make up done by Lia Negrete, who is so talented and was so sweet to us. Then Steph had us both read letters we wrote to each other and placed us back-to-back. We turned around slowly. Both of us are pretty low maintenance, so it was so nice—and emotional—to see each other so done up.

Say the brides: “It was a beautiful ending to the most wonderful day of our lives.” Then they add: “We have a baby due October 21, and we have a feeling that might equal or top it!”

The beautiful brides say “I do” at San Francisco’s City Hall.

An iconic backdrop as they share a look of love.

Another amazing shot by Steph.

Putting Courtney’s suspenders to good use.

Time for these married ladies to celebrate.
