Torie, from Georgia and Brandy, from North Carolina, met through social media but say it was all smiles across the table during their first date. Says Torie, “We’ve been together for almost 2 years. I am the luckiest woman in the universe.”
The Proposal
Torie proposed to Brandy on November 23rd, 2015 in Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
Torie: “I was so nervous, I barely slept the night before. When we woke up on our anniversary, I had it all planned out. We went out to lunch and then to the Savannah Rapids Pavilion to go for a walk.”
Brandy: “I thought we were going on a fancy lunch date to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. We got dressed up but Torie made me bring comfortable shoes, which is a good thing because I wore these wedges that she loves on me. We got to the canal, and I was thinking, “I really don’t want to go for a walk,” but then she took my hand and I realized it really didn’t matter where we went or what we did. What mattered was that we were together.”
Torie: “There’s a tradition at the pavilion for couples to “lock in their love” with locks on a bridge that overlooks the rapids. I surprised Brandy with a lock of our own and knelt down to add it to the others. I was nervous, my hands were shaking. Brandy looked away for a moment and when she looked back I was still kneeling down. Only this time I held a tiny black box opened in my hands.”
Brandy: “The lock read, “To my favorite part of everyday.” Torie told me she engraved it. I couldn’t help but to smile, she has a habit of doing these thoughtful things that remind me why I fell in love with her. She took my hand and led me to the canal locks to find the perfect spot. Then she turned to me with that ring!”
Torie: “I said “So how about right here? How about right now? Is this a good place to start the next chapter of our lives? Will you marry me?” I could see the tears building in her eyes as she grabbed my face and kissed me. Then she took my hand and we ran off the bridge. She wouldn’t take the ring until we were safely away from the canal’s rushing water.”
Brandy: ”She asked me to marry her and all I could think was, “Finally.” I dragged her off the bridge so I could put the ring where it belongs … on my finger!”
Brandy and Torie did an engagement shoot with Jessica Hunt Photography. They will wed on October 10th, 2016.
