Jessica & Sarah met seven years ago when Jess was hired at the store where Sarah worked. Says Sarah, “I was her Manager and was not “out,” but there was a connection between us I had never felt before.” The two began dating shortly after, and Sarah says that when the couple shared their first kiss, “it was like the entire world had been set on fire and my heart exploded in my chest – in the most amazing way possible! Even thinking about it seven years later I still get chills.”
The Proposal
Sarah says that Jess has proposed many, many times, but like Johnny Cash and June Carter she didn’t say yes until she was ready.
Sarah: “I was always very happy with the way things were and didn’t think we needed to change. I was never the girl who dreamed of her wedding day and of picking out a dress. I just dreamed of being happy and in love. I knew I would spend the rest of my life with Jess; She is my entire world. We’ve built a life together … bought a house, have two dogs, graduated Purdue, own businesses together, adopted two kids … I knew we were both in this.”
Jess: “I knew the moment I met Sarah that my life was forever changed. I had never met someone who just got me. She knew how to make me smile after a bad day, laughed at my corny jokes and never gave up on me in my hardest moments. I knew she was special. I knew I was going to do everything I could to keep her happy, for as long as she would let me. Luckily for me, she’s allowing me to keep her happy forever, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Sarah: “Last year something finally clicked in my head that I really did want to take the next step. I finally bought a ring and asked Jess to marry me. She said yes and we started planning. Every proposal was very typical of our personalities—at home in comfy clothes just being in each other’s company. That’s what I love best about us, we’re just ourselves, and at the core of our relationship we are each other’s biggest fan and best friend.”
Sarah and Jess had a gorgeous engagement session with Sarah’s sister Nowelle of Studio 1492 Photography, some of which you can see below.
Says Nowelle, “They are the most caring, wonderful people and deserve every bit of happiness and I’m just lucky to be the one that gets to capture their lives together.”
Jess & Sarah will be married on October 8th 2016.
