New York City
Nichole: Spoken word poet/web producer/foodie
Liz: Short story writer/ coffee enthusiast/ vegan nature lover
Nichole and Liz were married at City Hall in Manhattan with close friends and family present to witness the union. The two discovered the Periscope app just days before their wedding and invited friends and family from near and far to join them for a live stream of their ceremony. The brides had four bridesmaids, who all wore yellow—Nichole’s favorite—and her sister narrated the video.
Say the brides: Forty guests tuned in and commented the whole way through!
Their biggest expense was their rings, engraved with “Pari Passu,” a Latin phrase that roughly translates to “side by side.”
Nichole’s Favorite Moment: My sister’s funny narration throughout the live feed.
Liz’s Favorite Moment: We had a confetti baton that blasted confetti into the air when twisted. Since it was a rainy windy day, the confetti blew directly into a group of people walking by. It was a joyous and hilarious moment we’ll remember forever.
The brides took their small group to a celebratory dim sum dinner in Chinatown.
The brides describe their City Hall wedding as intimate, fun and full of love, all for under $1,000. “Love is inclusive,” say the brides, “It doesn’t have to cost thousands to be magical.”
Liz & Nichole are all smiles at City Hall.
The bridal party strikes a silly pose.
Awaiting their turn to say “I do.”
A kiss makes it official.
