Duluth, Minnesota
Britni and Paige met while playing college hockey in Minnesota. They continued dating long-distance when Britni moved back to Canada, then Paige made the move north to join her. Says Paige, “I proposed before Christmas in a photo booth. I thought it would be the perfect place to get candid photos, but they didn’t turn out how I imagined.” The brides say that their heads were cut off in most of the photos. “But it was still a great moment.”
The couple planned an outdoor summer wedding at Spirit Mountain, where they walked down the aisle together. Britni and Paige also had a first dance in front of friends and family.
Wedding Songs: “I believe in a thing called love” by The Branches, and “How long will I love you?” by Ellie Goulding.
Say the brides, “We had our bridal party pre record their speeches to play during dinner. We really enjoyed this because we got to hear from everyone, and they didn’t have to have the pressure of speaking in front of people. Now are able to play the video whenever we want to relive the day.”
Paige’s Favorite Moment: “Seeing Britni for the first time and riding the chair lift at Spirit Mountain. We were able to sit and enjoy each other, and a great view.”
Britni’s Favorite Moment: “Walking down the aisle together. It was an awesome feeling that I was finally getting to marry my best friend.”
The brides had donuts and homemade desserts on display for their guests to enjoy, and they also made mixed CDs as wedding favors and personalized activity books for the kids. Asked if there’s anything they would change, the brides say, “Nope. Well, maybe that our dogs could have been there!”
Britni and Paige also have some advice for future brides: “Spend as much time as you can together. It is easy to get pulled in different directions because everybody wants your attention. We made a conscious effort to stop and enjoy moments with each other because at the end of the day it’s about the two of you.”
