Verona Island, Maine
Remember Ashley & Paige’s super romantic sunset rock proposal? If you thought that was possibly the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen, wait until you see their wedding photos.
Say the brides: “We enjoyed the first few months of our engagement, and didn’t do much planning until the end of the year.”
The couple eventually got to work planning a summer wedding at Paige’s parents house on Verona Island. They decided to go dress shopping together. Says Paige: “We couldn’t imagine going without each other. I needed her help, and she needed mine.”
Both brides got their dresses at David’s Bridal in Portland, ME.
Says Paige: “Ashley loved every single dress she tried on, but when she found the one we all knew it … She walked around wearing it for two hours without even realizing.” When Ashley later said she didn’t know what dress to pick, Paige and her family reminded her that she’d been wearing the same one for the better part of their appointment. Paige says that choosing her own dress was easy, because as the tomboy in the relationship she wanted to keep it simple.
For the backyard wedding the brides enlisted the help of friends and family. They filled the space with white lanterns and strings of white lights. Of the two separate yards on the property, the brides used one for the ceremony and the other for their tented reception.
One of their bridesmaids made the wedding cake based off of a cake the brides liked from Pinterest. Ashley’s hair dresser, Kate Hogan, came out to the island to do their hair, and Ashley did both her and Paige’s makeup.
Both brides were escorted down the aisle by their fathers, to Boyce Avenue’s cover of “A Thousand Years.”
Ashley’s son Carson was her best man, and Paige’s nephew Hunter was hers. They were married by Paige’s Aunt Heather and their nieces served as flower girls.
Wedding Song: An acoustic version of Alanis Morissette’s “Head Over Feet.”
Say the brides: “We had a really hard time finding the perfect song. At the last minute this song came up and we just knew it was perfect for us.”
The brides had a 1970s white Beetle in the backyard with their wedding flowers scattered all over it. They also featured a cigar bar, which was the hit of the wedding. Their DJ played music ranging from classic rock to 90s hip hop, and the brides confess to dancing the Whip and Nae Nae.
Say the brides: “Most of our wedding decorations came straight out of our own apartment. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful night, and we wouldn’t change it for the world!”
