Grace and Patricia—both from Los Angeles—have been friends since they were teenagers. Says Patricia, “I work in the theatre and was helping out with a play at my old high school. A mutual friend brought Grace to help paint the set. “Although I was wearing ridiculous pants covered in paint, Grace swears she wanted to make me hers.” They dated off and on for years, then about six years ago Grace and Patricia decided that there was a reason they kept coming back to one another and made it official.
Proposal Date:
August 3rd 2013 – Grace
July 20th 2014 – Patricia
Both brides proposed! Says Patricia, “First Grace proposed at the Orange County Fair. She pushed me to pop into one of those old-fashioned photo booths.” Patricia proposed a year later surrounded by all of their friends at Grace’s birthday party.
Patricia: “I sat on Grace’s lap to take the silly photos in the photo booth. On one of the last photos Grace stuck out this big ring but didn’t say anything! I had to ask what was happening! Finally, she asked me to marry her.”
Patricia said the proposal was made even better because her mom was with them to witness it all.
Grace: “Patricia surprised me on my birthday. We had gotten all our friends together over the summer and I was in my bathing suit when she asked me to sit down on a chair in the middle of the patio. Then all of our friends lined up holding signs that said what Patricia loved about me. They paused in front of me with their funny signs and gave me flowers. At the end she came out, got down on one knee and held out a ring.”
The brides had an “Up” inspired engagement shoot with Michael Farmer Photography. Because it’s one of their favorite movies, they really got into character. Highlights from their fun and charming photoshoot below.
Grace & Patricia were married on October 15th 2016 in Oak Glen, California.
